Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi sold 2.12 million handsets in just 12 hours while celebrating the Mi Fan festival on the occasion of the company's fifth anniversary.
That bagged a whopping $335 million in revenue for the world's third largest smartphone maker.
Needless to say, there were much preparation, added discounts and marketing efforts put in place to register that kind of sale.
Xiaomi celebrates Mi Fan festival on the occasion of the company's birthday every year. In 2014, Xiaomi sold 1.3 million handsets in the same festival, according to Uber Gizmo.
The gadget maker also sold over 38,000 Mi TVs, 200,000 Mi Bands and 247,000 Mi Power Strips.
The Beijing based company is the third largest smartphone manufacturer after Samsung and Apple. In China, it is numero uno.
Lei Jun, the CEO of the company and 23rd richest Chinese celebrated the success by opening champagne bottles amid cheerful and excited employees.
Xiaomi told that the non-phone revenue pegged a huge $30.6 million in 2015 Mi Fan.
The 2.12 million phones were sold at revenue of RMB 2.08 billion, in Chinese terms, which is nothing short of a record for an Asian gadget maker.
The company also makes tablets, network routers, air purifiers and a lot of other products. Xiaomi also offers cloud-storage service called MiCloud and a messenger called MiTalk.
Xiaomi achieved a 30 percent overall growth last year. The company has also expanded to other Asian economies, including Malaysia, Indonesia and India, reported Android Authority.
Jun however believes that Xiaomi is more like Amazon and Google, and should not be termed with the media-hyped name "China's Apple".
The company's CEO said, "If people really want to compare Xiaomi to a foreign company, you can say it looks a bit like Apple."
"But it's really more like Amazon with some elements of Google," he added.
