Spike TV Renews 'Lip Sync Battle' For 20 More Episodes; New Season To Air In 2016

The top-rating show of Spike TV, "Lip Sync Battle", will be having its second season as it was renewed for 20 more episodes, the network announced on April 22, Wednesday.

The show, which is about celebrities competing for the best lip-sync performance, is the most-watched series in the said network, Entertainment Weekly reported. The concept of the show originated in the show "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" in 2013 and was adapted by the network on April 8.

According to the report, every episode of the said show averages three million views. The show is hosted by LL Cool J and swimsuit model Chrissy Teigen gives her comments on the performances.

In a press release by Spike's President, Kevin Kay, he shared that the "Lip Sync Battle" is a success and they are thrilled to renew it. He also complimented the creativity of the producers and the celebrities who bravely performed their acts.

The show is executively produced by Casey Patterson, Jay Peterson, John Krasinski, Stephen Merchant, and Eight Million Plus Productions, Deadline reported.

The performances of the celebrities are uploaded on the show's YouTube page and Anne Hathaway's performance of Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" is by far the most famous since it had over 14 million views since its release.  

Celebrities who took part of the show include Jimmy Fallon, who battled Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Hathaway, who went up against Emily Blunt, Krasinski battled against "Pitch Perfect" star Anna Kendrick, and "Empire" stars Terrence Howard vs. Taraji P. Henson. Howard and Henson's performance will debut this Thursday.

The show is currently on its fourth episode.
