"Captain America" has introduced "Inglorious Basterds" actor Daniel Bruhl and "The Hobbit" star Martin Freeman to its growing cast. Now, it has been confirmed that another actress will return to Joe and Anthony Russo's upcoming "Captain America: Civil War," Emily VanCamp.
VanCamp will reprise her role as Sharon Carter, also known as Agent 13, in "Captain America: Civil War," as per Deadline.
The actress' character was initially introduced in "Captain America: Winter Soldier." Agent 13, under the alias of Kate, was a neighbor to the super soldier. She pretends to be a nurse, but she is actually an agent from S.H.I.E.L.D. and she was delegated to watch over Captain America.
Carter is the niece of Peggy Carter in the comics and she is the love interest of the titular patriotic hero. Earlier this year, she also had her own series on ABC, "Agent Carter."
Agent 13 is just known as "Kate" and "Sharon" in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," and not Sharon Carter. Hence, "Civil War" is a good timing to know more about her character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as per Cinema Blend.
While Carter's role shows to be a great addition to the upcoming blockbuster, her role in the storyline has yet to be confirmed. Since Steve Rogers has not found out her surname, fans are also curious to know how their relationship will be affected if Rogers discovers her connections.
Aside from "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," VanCamp is also known for her roles in the TV series "Revenge" and Marya Cohn's drama film "The Girl in the Book."
"Captain America: Civil War" centers on the superhero registration act, a law issued by the government that orders superheroes to submit their identities to the public. It breaks the unity of Captain America and Iron Man as the former is not in favor of the act while the latter is supportive of the law.
The film stars VanCamp, Bruhl, Freeman, Frank Grillo, Chadwick Boseman, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Elizabeth Olsen, Jeremy Renner, Scarlet Johansson, Robert Downey Jr., and Chris Evans.
"Captain America: Civil War" is slated to premiere in theaters on May 6, 2016.
