As the spotlight gets brighter revealing the director who will take over the web-slingers solo film, there is a simultaneous search for the new actor behind Peter Parker. From the shortlist of five actors, the options had been trimmed down to two, as per Cinema Blend.
"Ender's Game" actor Asa Butterfield and "The Impossible" star Tom Holland are the final two contenders for the role of the iconic superhero, according to the tweet of Badass Digest's Devin Faraci.
Both Butterfield and Holland are 18 years old and they are both eligible to play the new incarnation of Peter Parker, even after they reach their 20s.
The actor who will play the iconic superhero might be unveiled prior to the revelation of the film's director and writers, since "Spider-Man" is expected to have his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Joe and Anthony Russo's "Captain America: Civil War."
With the selections still ongoing, fans have to wait for further announcement.
The solo "Spider-Man" film is to premiere on July 28, 2017.
