‘World War Z 2’ Cancelled as Paramount Will Work Instead on TV Series to Rival ‘The Walking Dead’?

Brad Pitt is set to save the world on June 9, 2017 in his upcoming flick, "World War Z 2." Paramount Pictures declared the movie's release date on May 22, Friday, which is reportedly coinciding with 20th Century Fox's "Fantastic Four 2."

The summer of 2017 expectedly will become overwhelming for cinema lovers who will be treated with a double bonanza on the same day. Back in 2013, the movie's prequel "World War Z" coincided with "Monsters University" to earn $500 million worldwide and become the biggest domestic grosser of Pitt's career.

World War Z is based on the novel by Max Brooks, which in itself a follow-up to Brooks' semi-serious manual, "The Zombie Survival Guide." In the prequel, Pitt has played the role of a former United Nations investigator who must travel the world looking for a cure to the zombie pandemic. Not much is known about the upcoming movie, other than the fact that Brad's production company Plan B is working on the film, which is based on the spin-off comic "The Zombie Survival Guide: Recorded Attacks," Daily Mail reported.

"World War Z 2" is being helmed by Spanish director J. A. Bayona of 2007 horror "The Orphanage" and 2012's "The Impossible" fame. Apart from the fact that Pitt is reprising his role as Gerry Lane in the post-apocalyptic drama, not much detail is available about the casting of the movie, Coming Soon reported.

Meanwhile, multiple sources state that the release of "Fantastic Four 2" will be pushed further in August due to their countless hurdles in production and the usual tendency of big summer blockbusters to avoid each other on opening day.
