"Transformers 5" was confirmed a few months back but, until now, Michael Bay has not yet confirmed his return to the franchise. In fact, there are speculations that he will no longer return to direct the film, but Paramount is still trying to urge him to sign on.
According to Master Herald, if Bay will not return to direct the franchise, there is a huge possibility that Jonathan Liebesman will take on his role. Liebesman was responsible for helming "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles."
According to the same publication, Liebesman is knowledgeable when it comes to the work of Bay on the "Transformers" franchise, making him a good candidate for the said position.
Still, Paramount is still trying their best to negotiate with Bay. If he will not return to direct "Transformers 5," the production company could hire him as a consultant when it comes to developing certain parts of the movie.
Meanwhile, "Transformers 5" lead star Mark Wahlberg previously hinted on the possibility of Bay returning as director. In an interview with MTV News, Wahlberg confirmed his return to the franchise and added that Bay could be on the set soon as well.
"Yeah, I committed to doing a couple more. I cannot speak for Mr. Bay, but something tells me he will be on set soon," he said at that time.
"Transformers 5" will be released some time in 2017. The film also stars Megan Fox, Shia LaBeouf, Nicola Peltz, Jack Reynor, Peter Cullen, Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer and a whole lot more.
