Sony recently released a critical update for its PlayStation 3 videogame console. The new update will update the PlayStation 3's firmware to version 4.75. While PlayStation 3 received an important update, no words were mention whether Sony will release an update on the PlayStation 4 console.

The PlayStation 3 firmware update was released in order to fix some stability issues that has plagued the console for quite some time. Some of the changes the new update contain was based on recommendation made by PlayStation 3 users.

According to Gear Nuke, the PlayStation 3 4.75 firmware update was intended to provide stability improvement instead of introducing a new feature. PlayStation Europe blogger Chris Owen said, "There won't be any noticeable changes to the XMB menu. This update is purely to improve system stability."

The new PlayStation 3 firmware update is also mandatory for gamers who want to access the PlayStation Network. The PlayStation Store on the PlayStation 3 was also updated to version 1.16.

The firmware update was released on June 2. The update can be downloaded on PlayStation's official websites, according to PlayStation Lifestyle. The update needs at least 200 megabytes of free storage space in order to be fully downloaded.

While the PlayStation 3 received some stability improvement update, the PlayStation 4 was reported to receive the 1.04 patch of "Witcher 3: Wild Hunt." The patch was 505 megabytes big and includes bug fixes and tweaks that will remedy some of the well-known glitches in the game including the XP glitch. Aside from the patch, a DLC pack for "Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" was also released earlier on June 3, Wednesday.
