Ariana Grande recently penned a lengthy essay about feminism, inspired by her recent interview about her ex-boyfriend Big Sean and her being romantically linked to One Direction member Niall Horan.

During the said interview with The Sun, Grande was asked how she is coping with her recent split from the rapper. At that time, the singer said that she no longer wants to be referred to as someone else's ex-girlfriend because she wants to be referred to as just herself, "Ariana Grande."

Following the interview, thousands of people took notice of Grande's new-found disposition and this inspired her to pen the lengthy essay about feminism that she posted via her Instagram and Twitter accounts.

In the letter, Grande explained what she meant when she said she no longer wants to be associated with Big Sean. According to her, it is because she is tired of being referred to as another man's past, present or future, as though she were some kind of property or possession.

The singer went on to explain why she does not want to discuss boy or relationship-related questions during her interviews because she has come to realize that there are so many other important things to talk about, according to the New York Daily News.

Following her split, the young singer also said that she realized that she can actually survive without a boy by her side. At present, she has learned how to love herself more, to enjoy life more and to spend time with people who truly matter in her life.

Grande and Big Sean ended their eight-month relationship in April.
