The most-anticipated "The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited" launch on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One faced unexpected server issues, with some players unable to get past the login screen.

Players received the error message, "Login Failed: An unexpected internal error has occurred. Please contact customer service at help.elderscrollsonline.com" and another message stating "LOGIN FAILED: Connection to server timed out. Please try again later," according to the complaints on the game's official forum and NeoGAF.

Some players, who managed to login successfully, were reportedly able to play through the first couple of hours. Bethesda and Zenimax immediately acknowledged the issue and tweeted that they were "working to fix an issue affecting #ESOTU console logins on NA and EU."

After nearly 6 hours, The Elder Scrolls Online tweeted "The maintenance is complete, and the European PlayStation 4 megaserver is now back online and available."

Players were also advised to try a workaround, in case of "Login Failed" error. Switching between the North American and European servers has reportedly helped some players to get past the login screen. However, if the error persists, players are advised to contact The Elder Scrolls Support Team, with details about - Megaserver (NA or EU), Time of error and Internet Service Provider.

Bethesda said that the server issues, particularly the "Login Failed" error was due to the "overwhelming demand for ESOTU and high volume of traffic" hitting the login servers.

While it is common for MMO's to experience issues on launch day, players are said to be facing other issues like crucial NPCs disappearing, unable to use the Explorer's Pack completely, keyboards not working, Error 318 flashes, chat spamming without sending any message and friend invite system to have stopped fully, according to Express.

The Elder Scrolls Online Support Team has said that it is actively looking into the issue.
