Moto X 2013 users will receive Android 5.1 Lollipop OS update in the next couple of days, while Moto X 2014 owners may have to wait a little longer.

According to Christianity Daily, Moto X 2013 will finally get the taste of the Android 5.1 Lollipop OS update in the next few days as Motorola's product manager David Schuster announced in his Google+ account that the soak test for Android 5.1 OS update in Moto X 2013 has begun.

"Hey guys, quick update here for Moto X (1st Gen). We have started full soak testing again in the U.S. on the 5.1 Lollipop upgrade for our retail channels. If the data looks good, we'll move to full deployment in about a week.

In addition, we also initiated a full soak test for Brazil retail and Rogers in Canada yesterday for Moto X (1st Gen).

Please ensure that you have accepted any updates from the Play Store for Motorola Update Services (to version 4 or higher). You will need this to get the upgrade notification."

However, the roll out of the new software will probably be conducted in stages, which means that not all users will get it at the same time.

Meanwhile, Moto X 2014 users will get the Android 5.1 Lollipop OS update after Motorola reported halted the testing of the software after a an issue was detected.

Schuster updated the consumers saying that the company developers detected an issue during the soak testing for Moto X 2014. However, he also assured that the company have identified the fix for the said issue and is testing it internally this week and will send it to deliver it to carriers next week. In short, Motorola has not come up with a definite release date for the OS update for Moto X 2014.
