Moto DROID Turbo Android 5.1 Lollipop OS update release may happen soon as Motorola invites users to take part of the soak test like what it did with Moto X 2013 and 2014.

According to Droid-Life, Motorola are inviting DROID Turbo users to preview the upcoming software for the handset. Although Motorola has not stated that the soak test is for Android 5.1 OS, the DROID Turbo is currently running with the Kitkat 4.4.4 version of Android operating system. Thus, it is a no-brainer that the update is for the Lollipop OS. Meanwhile, there were speculations that Moto DROID Turbo will jump straight to Android M.

Currently, the tech company is rolling out the Android 5.1 OS update for unlocked versions of Moto X 2013 in US, Brazil, and Canada.

"I am pleased to announce that we have started full deployment of the 5.1 Android Lollipop upgrade for Moto X (1st Gen) for US Retail, Brazil Retail and Rogers in Canada," Motorola's Senior Director of Software Product Management David Schuster announced in his Google+ account.

Thanks to Android 5.1 Lollipop OS update, the first generation of Moto X now enjoys a myriad of new features like Quick Setting, Material Design, screen pinning and viewing of apps, Smart Lock, multi-tasking and more.

As for the Moto X 2014, the soak test was halted by an issue encountered by developers, but was immediately resolved and internal testing was carried out and the OS update will be rolled out soon, although no official date was announced. Motorola will begin the soak test in Italy, Hong Kong, Australia, Malaysia, The Netherlands, Belgium, etc.
