Moto X, Moto G, and Moto E devices may receive the latest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS update as the Moto 360 smartwatch just received the said version of the software and Moto X 2013 starts receiving Android 5.1 OS.
Moto 360 is one of the best Android-based smartwatches in the market although it was one of the late adopters of the Android 5.1.1. According to Gotta Be Mobile, Moto 360 users confirmed that they started receiving the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS update with one of Google's employee posted in his Google+ account confirming the roll out.
The release of the new software is staggered and will take place in stages in the next few days. Thus, Moto 360 users will not receive the firmware at the same time.
Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS update for Android Wear devices like Moto 360 will introduce various updates and improvements such as new always-on apps, more refined list of apps, and contacts menu.
While the Moto 360 enjoys the perks and features of the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS update, Motorola handsets - Moto X, Moto G, and Moto E - are reportedly bound to receive the Android 5.1 version.
Currently, the tech company is rolling out the Android 5.1 OS update for unlocked versions of Moto X 2013 in US, Brazil, and Canada.
"I am pleased to announce that we have started full deployment of the 5.1 Android Lollipop upgrade for Moto X (1st Gen) for US Retail, Brazil Retail and Rogers in Canada," Motorola's Senior Director of Software Product Management David Schuster announced in his Google+ account.
Meanwhile, Motorola reportedly halted the soak test of Android 5.1 in Moto X 2014 as an issue was encountered by developers. However, the said issue was resolved and internal testing has been carried out. Shuster confirmed that if all goes well, the update will also arrive to users in the coming days.
There is no official announcement yet as for the status of Android 5.1 OS for Moto G and Moto E, but the devices are expected to follow suit.
