Since its launch on June 14, Bethesda's mobile spin-off of "Fallout" franchise - "Fallout Shelter" has landed on the number spot on Apple's App Store, becoming the most downloaded game in 48 countries, and the top downloaded app in 25 countries.
"To have our first mobile game be enjoyed by so many is stunning. It just shows that gamers appreciate more depth and being treated fairly. It also shows people love 'Fallout' as much as we do," said Todd Howard, game director at Bethesda Game Studios, in an official blog.
Just in the first week, following its launch, "Fallout Shelter" play sessions have surpassed 70 million times a day globally. The mobile game has beaten the King's "Candy Crush" as the App's Store's third top-grossing app in the United States, within just 2 days. The game has also made it within the top 5 highest grossing games on the App Store in 37 countries, according to Digital Trends.
"Fallout Shelter" is the first venture of Bethesda into the mobile gaming world and which was showed off alongside the upcoming much awaited "Fallout 4" to be released on November 10. The mobile game was noted for "no paywall timers" and "no internet connection required" to play features. As described by the creators, it is "a post-nuclear strategy and simulation experience" that gives players full control over "a state-of-the-art underground Vault."
"Fallout Shelter" Android version is expected to land soon with a release frame ranging from as short as a few weeks to more than a few months. The mobile game is currently available for download on the App Store for iPhone and iPad.
