Pacquiao Earned 'Money Like He's Never Seen Before'; No.2 at Forbes' Highest Paid Celebs

Pacquiao is No.2 at Forbes' Highest Paid Celebs list

Top Rank boss Bob Arum  revealed that eight-division titleholder Manny Pacquiao calls every week to get updated about money he earned fighting Floyd Mayweather.

Arum describes the amount as "money like he's never seen before."  

The fight earned a total gross of about $600 million including 4.4 million pay-per-view subscriptions and eclipsed every boxing record in terms of money generated.


Pacquiao came in second to Mayweather among the Forbes' list of the World's Highest-Paid Celebrities, based on the earnings in the past 12 months.

Mayweather will certainly widen his lead as he is set to fight again in September while Pacquiao recovers from surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff in his right shoulder.

Mayweather announced that he had short-listed Andre Berto and Karim Mayfield.

Pacquiao (57-6-2, 38 KOs) is reportedly recovering well but nonethless  will be out of the ring for the rest of the year. 

Arum said Pacquiao will return to the United States from the Philippines around July 4 for a medical examination.

Dr. Neal ElAttrache, the orthopedic surgeon who performed the 90-minute procedure on him, will assess his condition.

Arum expects Pacquiao to fight again in the first half of 2016, hopefully in a rematch with Mayweather, after his shoulder heals as expected.

Meanwhile, Singer Katy Perry came in third at $135 million in the Forbes List. 

Rounding out the top five are in the Forbes list are One Direction with $130 million and Howard Stern with $95 million.

Other athletes on the top 20 of the list are Cristiano Ronaldo at No. 10 with $79.5 million, Lionel Messi at 13th with $74 million, Roger Federer who as 16th with $67 million.

LeBron James led all NBA players with $65 million, which is good for 18th.

Kevin Durant at 30th earned $52 million while Kobe Bryant at 39th had $49.5 million.
