A potential fight in the Middle East between Amir Khan and Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao is under consideration for early next year, businessman and promoter Bob Arum has revealed.
The huge following cultivated by the Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight this month has piqued an interest in fans in Dubai, Arum told The Telegraph.
He said he met with a delegation from Dubai that approached him regarding a fight in early 2016 with Manny Pacquiao, which Arum termed as "interesting."
He revealed that during discussions British boxer Amir Khan had been suggested as an opponent, to which Arum claimed would be a possibility but depended on Manny's recovery following his surgery which he underwent this month on his shoulder.
Meanwhile, former North Cotabato Governor just days ago floated the idea of a fight in the Philippines, during the same time for Pacquia with local boxing icon Manny Pinol.
The interest in having Pacquiao fight in Dubai has not been a recent development, as The Philippine Star revealed that $100 million had been offered to host the Mayweather fight.
However, for Pacquiao recovery is a priority at the moment as advisor of the Filipino star Mike Koncz revealed to the Philippine publication saying boxing was not on Pacquiao's mind.
It is suggested that Pacquiao will need a period of six months to recover in order to allow an old shoulder injury to heal. The injury worsened during the star's fight with Floyd Mayweather in Las Vegas this month.
Meanwhile, it was also revealed that Arum has kept open the possibility of a second fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao. He said in all his experience of organizing super fights of the likes of Muhammad Ali vs Joe Frazier, the Pacquiao vs Mayweather fight amazed him that it generated $500 million in one evening.
