Toshiba is a Japanese multinational conglomerate corporation with diversified products and services including consumer electronics and household appliances, among others.

Toshiba Electronics recently announced that it will release a new addition to its MC04 series of hard disk drives. The new 6TB variant on the MC04 series will target big enterprise that needs bulk storage system as well as servers for cloud based applications.

The new addition to the MC04 series offers 20 percent more storage capacity compared to the last model that only offers 5TB of high capacity storage. The 6TB model can provide a more efficient high-density and high-growth storage especially for companies that plans a multi-petabyte deployment.

Toshiba's new MC04 series model also offers a faster return-of-investment for large scale storage solution companies due to its increased power efficiency compared to previous generation models.

The new 6TB model will join a long list of MC04 variants that include 5TB, 4TB, 3TB and 2TB models. Just like the older generation models, the new 6TB MC04 variant uses a SATA 6.0 Gbits/second interface speed with advance format sector technology, according to Business Wire. This allows the hard drive to have full compatibility with older generation hardware and operating environments as well as improved aerial density.

Additionally, the MC04 series of 3.5-inch hard drives has spindle speed of 7,200 RPM, according to The Register. The Toshiba 6TB MC04 series of hard drives will be officially released in August.

In March, Toshiba unveiled its AL13SX series of 2.5-inch hard disk drives. Models in this series boasts a 12 Gb/second transfer rate and 15,000 RPM. The AL13SX series targets Tier 1 storage system with focus on business database and online transaction processing workloads.
