The Android 5.1.1 update is coming to more handsets, starting with the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 in Russia. The Lollipop update is said to bring more fixes rather than new features, but it appears to be coming earlier than expected.

Originally, Samsung had scheduled the latest update to come sometime toward the end of July, but considering the slow debut on some handsets, many more may follow before the schedule, GSM Arena reported.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 model that is currently receiving the update are mostly of the Exynos family. But more models are expected to get this update. Of course, there will still be some waiting time for handsets in the United States and Europe to get the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, considering that there will be mobile-specific testing to be conducted.

In fact, T-Mobile is also rolling out the Android 5.1.1 update to two of its LG handsets, the LG Leon and LG G Stylo, Android Central reported. The update had been pretty big, taking up 316 MB and 429 MB for the Leon and G Stylo respectively. The update does bring some more improvements on the display and battery.

The aforementioned smart devices are not the first ones to receive the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update, way back at the end of May, the Nexus family of smartphones have already received the update. The Android 5.1.1 update features predominant bug fixes for memory and stability issues, taking up 25MB of space in the Nexus devices. Android devices should expect the update to be an over-the-air one.
