New Hero 4 Session From GoPro

There is a new Hero 4 version on the block which according to its makers GoPro addresses a lot of grouses that users of earlier Hero 4 version have always complained about.

It is smaller and lighter, to begin with, and is water resistant right out of the box. To elaborate on these attributes, the Hero 4 Session weighs just about half that of its predecessor while measuring just 1.5 inches all around. The waterproofing, according to Tech Times, will last for 33 feet.

However, perhaps what can be termed the single biggest improvement with Hero 4 Session is its incorporation of a single button that acts to start the device and initiate shooting as well. That makes the camera super simple to use and operate, which otherwise required dealing with a myriad of buttons on earlier Hero 4 versions.

Too many buttons not only made things unnecessarily complicated but also drained the battery. Users risked losing their favorite shots as well while preparing the camera.

The only other button that the Session comes with has to do with Wi-Fi while users get to change settings with the app, reported The Verge.

Battery backup times have improved too, what with 2 hours of continuous shooting times at 1080p setting, which makes it among the best among other GoPro stablemates of its class.

Add to these the usual benefits that the Hero 4 Session inherits, that of cross compatibility with the vast array of accessories that includes those from GoPro to even third party suppliers.

However, so much for the positive aspects of the new Hero 4 Session, the new camera though comes with its own set of shortcomings.

For instance, the camera is limited to shoot at a max 100 fps of 720p quality, other settings being 1440p quality video at 30 fps and 1080p video at 60 fps. The Session is also able to shoot images at 8 megapixels, a figure that even most mid-range smartphones supersedes by a healthy margin.
