Apple iPhone 6s production

Apple has ordered record production of its upcoming model iPhone 6s to its assemblers by Dec. 31. The tech giant reportedly ordered its suppliers for the production of 85 million to 90 million handsets by the end of this year. The units will involve a combination of two new models of iPhone with screen dimensions of 5.5 inches and 4.7 inches.

According to Wall Street Journal, the company believes that even a simple modification in the phone hardware will coax the consumers to upgrade their phones to the new model; therefore, exceeding the requirements of large screen handsets compared to the iPhone 6 released in 2014.

Apple has asked for the supply of 70 million to 80 million units of its two models, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus in 2014, which was their first and the largest introductory execution in the category of large screen iPhones.

According to Bloomberg, the initial production of new iPhone handsets with the Force Touch feature had already been started by the suppliers on June 28. It seems that the MacBook and the Apple Watch is already using the same technology, says the journal. It also says that apparently the screen resolution will remain the same along with the display size.

The Force Touch technology will let the user differentiate between light touch and deep hard press. Based on who are aware of the difference between the touch pressures, it will let the user control the handset in a different manner.

While Apple entrusted Pegatron Corp. and Hon Hai in 2014 for the large screen phones which led to some delay reaching the consumers, this year the company is thinking of assigning a third manufacturer, Wistron Corp. for the production of new handsets.

With the expansion of their iPhone range, Apple has expanded its manufacturer base. The entire strategy is to restrict the complete dependence on any one single assembler for manufacturing the handsets. This will ensure faster production, and therefore, will arrive at the markets promptly and in significant volumes.
