iPad Air 3 release is reportedly not happening this year and is delayed next year as iPad Pro and iPad Mini 4 will be launched in October.

According to Taiwanese media source Economic Daily News citing Fubon Bank analyst Liaoxian Yi, Apple decided to delay the iPad Air 3 release in 2016 to give way to the rumored iPad Pro, which is the Apple's entry in the laplet market.

The company thinks that the iPad Air 3 may cannibalize the iPad Pro sales. Moreover, there could be problems in terms of supply if suppliers are working on three tablets.

iPad Pro is rumored to pack a 12.9 to 14 inches screen panel with 2,732 x 2,048 pixel resolution and the familiar 4:3 aspect ratio and 264 pixel density. According to Taiwanese media Tech News, Apple will reportedly tap Sharp and Samsung to supply the large 12.9 inch displays.

iPad Pro is also expected to simultaneously run with iOS and OS X El Capitan, according to Cult of Mac. This hinted that the tablet will be a hybrid device and will cater features of both a tablet and a notebook or laptop.

iPad sales continue to decline prompting Apple to release a game changer this year and to re-establish iPad as a "must have" device. Other rumored features of iPad Pro are A9 processor, Type-C USB port, a special stylus, NFC, and Force Touch technology.

Meanwhile, accompanying the iPad Pro is the iPad Mini 4. New rumors claimed that Apple will no longer continue the iPad Mini line after the release of iPad Mini 4. This is due to the growing unpopularity of the miniature tablet.

However, official details of the iPad line have not been revealed yet.
