After almost a decade of performing in the WWE ring, Diva Layla El has announced her retirement from the World Wrestling Entertainment. She leaves behind a successful and well decorated career in the WWE.
In an exclusive interview with WWE.com, leaving the entertainment company is one of the most difficult decisions she has made so far.
"I feel like deciding to retire from the ring has been a hard decision to make because I'm passionate and I love performing. I've known everybody in that company now for nine years. They're family," Layla explained.
The Diva also added that she feels "guilty" for leaving the fans of the WWE who have been "100% loyal" to her.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the retirement is "effective immediately".
While the retirement seems sudden, El says one of the reasons that led her to the decision is "the travel part".
"I've been traveling the world for nine years now and sometimes it's just time to start the next chapter of your life...I just got tired of the travel part."
As for her future, the WWE superstar says she'll try her hand on "TV stuff", which could be acting on series in the US or UK. She added that she'll love to return to dancing and possibly choreograph for the Miami Heat dancers.
She is also engaged and is expected to tie the knot soon.
Layla El joined the WWE after winning the 2006 WWE Diva Search. She has since won the WWE Women's Championship in 2010 and the WWE DIvas Championship in 2012.
