"Arrow" season 4 is set to premiere on Oct. 7 on The CW. Recently, it was speculated that its lead star Stephen Amell, who plays Oliver Queen, will have a goatee in the upcoming season. The 34-year-old has taken to Twitter to deny the rumors.
"100% no. Never. Our show could go 14 seasons and a goatee will never appear. Hope that clears things up. Forever," Amell tweeted on July 29, Wednesday, answering the question he has been asked several times over the last three years.
While Oliver Queen has maintained facial scruff throughout the "Arrow" series, the closest he has had a goatee was in the pilot episode when he was found with a long beard on Lian Yu, an island in the North China Sea where he was stranded for five years before Chinese fishermen found him.
Amell does not grow out the goatee to avoid making Oliver Queen look like a criminal who is trying to keep a low profile, which does not match the heroic look he is supposed to have, according to Cinema Blend.
Developed by Andrew Kreisberg, Marc Guggenheim and Greg Berlanti, "Arrow" also stars Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smoak, John Barrowman as Malcolm Merlyn, Paul Blackthorne as Quentin Lance, David Ramsey as John Diggle, Willa Holland as Thea Queen and Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance.
In other news, Cassidy was recently honoured at the 2015 PRISM Awards, which recognizes the correct depiction of substance abuse and mental illness in film, television, comic book entertainment, interactive, music and DVD.
The "Arrow" actress wore a black jumpsuit during the awards ceremony, which was held at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles, Calif., according to Just Jared.
