It seems the sequel to the record breaking box office hit “Jurassic World” will take the fans outside the Jurassic Park, when it lands in theaters on June 22, 2018.
The upcoming movie will not be about dinosaurs chasing people on an island, but something more, as the movie might be set outside the theme park.
“I feel like the idea that this isn’t always going to be limited to theme parks, and there are applications for this science that reach far beyond entertainment,” Colin Trevorrow director of “Jurassic World” said in an interview with Wired.
Trevorrow gives an example of nuclear power, which was first used as a weapon, and was only later it was used for energy. He claims that the idea that was planted in the “Jurassic World” movie, is something that might grow in to more of these movies, and asks what if concept of making a dinosaur goes open source.
He added that there was scene where Dr Wu warns Dr Mesrani, saying “We won’t always be the only ones who can make a dinosaur,” which was cut in the final edits, gives an interesting idea for the next installment of “Jurassic” movies.
Another possible scoop is, Dr Wu and Vic Hoskins, the head of security operations, teaming up to militarize a new set of dinosaurs in the sequel. However, there is no official word from Universal about the plot of the new movie.
The untitled “Jurassic” film will feature Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard reprising their roles as Owen Grady and Claire Dearing. Steven Spielberg and Trevorrow are the executive producers, while Frank Marshall will be the producer of the sequel. Trevorrow has confirmed that he will not be directing the movie, but will be writing the script with Derek Connolly.
“Jurassic Park is like Star Wars. Different directors can give a different taste to each movie. I would be involved in some way, but not as director,” Trevorrow told the Entertainment Weekly.
