Football Transfer News & Rumors: Mourinho Magic Works Again As Chelsea Snags Augsburg's Baba Rahman Before New Season

FC Augsburg’s left back Baba Rahman is set to move to English club Chelsea.

Premier League defending champions Chelsea FC have reached an agreement with FC Augsburg's left back Baba Rahman, his agent Sascha Empacher verified as per ESPN.

Empacher told reporters that his client had already agreed to play for the Stamford Bridge giants this coming season and that an agreeable transfer fee between the two football clubs is the only thing that stands in the way of his move to England.

"It is only the clubs that have to find an agreement," said Empacher. "We on our side are agreed."

The Blues' manager, José Mourinho, had long been speculated of targeting the 21-year-old Ghanaian defender since the beginning of summer even before the departure of Brazilian left back Filipe Luís to Atlético Madrid late last month.

Luís' return to Atlético merely paved the way to make Mourinho desire Rahman even more despite the persistent declarations of Fuggerstädter's head coach Markus Weinzierl that the Ghana international was not for sale.

With the 29-year-old Brazil international gone, Rahman's acquisition suddenly became a need for Chelsea rather than a want.

Mourinho was then recently rumored to making a surprise offer for Tottenham Hotspur's left back Danny Rose, via the Mirror. The bid was believed to be a "classic misdirection" technique of the 52-year-old Portuguese manager to force Augsburg to fast-track the release of Rahman.

If these rumors were to be believed, then The Special One may have enforced his magic once again when it comes to insisting on his desires in player movements.

Reports were out that the German club was looking for a €25-million remuneration for the transfer Rahman and it was also said that Chelsea was more than willing to oblige.
