"Furious 8" star Vin Diesel talks to Kurt Russell.

Vin Diesel posted a picture on his Instagram account captioned "Toretto Tuesday". The image, showing him and Kurt Russell, on the set sparked talks that Russell is officially on board in "The Fast and The Furious 8."

Russell appeared in "Furious 7" playing Mr. Nobody, a cunning and calm middle-aged government agent. The "Stargate" actor himself had hinted in an interview with Jimmy Kimmel that he signed up for more "Furious" movies.

"I got an idea, a sense of what Vin maybe wants to do in the future," Cinema Blend quoted Russell as saying.

Russell described Mr. Nobody as a mystery man, an exciting role for him to play, International Business Times reported.

Meanwhile, the possible return of other characters remains an exciting mystery. Racer and Drifter Sean Boswell, played by "NCIS: New Orleans" actor Lucas Black, is expected to tag along after Black admitted to signing for more "Furious" movies.

Agent Monica Fuentes, the character of Eva Mendes, may have a big appearance on the next film.

Confirmed to join the eighth film are Diesel as Dominic Toretto, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as Luke Hobbs, Michelle Rodriguez as Leticia Ortiz Toretto, Tyrese Gibson as Roman Pearce, and Jason Statham as Deckard Shaw.

Regarding the creative team, Justin Lin is currently in talks with Universal in order to direct a multi-part finale, reports Movie News Guide.

"Fast & Furious 8″ hits the big screen in 2017 and is currently on development, according to Diesel, the turbo-charged movie's producer and main actor.

Having earned $3.5 billion at the worldwide box office as of April, "The Fast and the Furious" has become Universal's biggest franchise of all time.

The upcoming installment, set in New York, is up for a major change as Paul Walker, who portrayed Brian O'Connor in previous "Fast & Furious" movies, met a fatal car accident in 2013. Reports said that the film will turn its spotlight to other characters.
