"Once Upon a Time" cast members Lana Parrilla, Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas showed up at Disney's D23 convention to promote the upcoming new season of the ABC fairy tale drama series. OUAT series creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis also attended the event where the sneak peek video of "Once Upon a Time" Season 5, episode 1 titled "The Dark Swan" was shared.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Once Upon a Time" was showcased at Disney's D23 Expo for "An Evening With Snow White & the Evil Queen." The opening scene of "Once Upon a Time" Season 5 premiere episode was shown to the fans during the panel.

The sneak peek video picks up where "Once Upon a Time" Season 4 left off. Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison) took on the powers of the Dark One to prevent Regina/Evil Queen (Lana Parrilla) from going back to the dark side again.

Emma Swan vanished and left behind the Dark One's dagger with her name engraved on it. Regina is upset with the outcome of Emma's actions but Snow White/Mary Margaret (Ginnifer Goodwin) pointed out that Emma sacrificed herself to save Regina's life.

Emma and Regina started off as enemies in the pilot season because of Henry (Jared S. Gilmore). Then, the two OUAT characters eventually became allies after Emma helped Regina crossover from the villain side to the heroes side.

The upcoming new season will have a role reversal between Emma and Regina. It will now be Regina's turn in "Once Upon a Time" Season 5 to save Emma and bring her back to the good side so she could fulfill her role as the Savior of Storybrooke.

In the sneak peek video, Regina declares that Emma Swan is now a problem for all of them because she is the new Dark One. Robin Hood (Sean Maguire) wondered where Emma went after she vanished so Captain Hook (Colin O'Donoghue) picks up the dagger and uses it to summon Emma Swan as the new Dark One.

Captain Hook is puzzled that Emma did not return to Storybrooke. Regina is skeptical with Captain Hook's knowledge on the dagger's rules.

Captain Hook explains that the Dark One could be summoned in any corner of the world with the use of the dagger. "Well, there's your answer, she is not in this world," Regina responds.

Entertainment Weekly has an exclusive first look from the new season's premiere episode which shows Emma Swan in a different setting with Rumplestiltskin (Robert Carlyle), the former Dark One. The image suggests Rumplestiltskin is helping Emma Swan control her powers as the new Dark One.

"If you're going to be the Dark One, gotta learn from the best," OUAT series creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis teased. "Once Upon a Time" Season 5 premieres Sunday night, Sept. 27, at 8/7c on ABC.
