The highly anticipated Bleach Chapter 639 remains unreleased and more predictions are being cast for the leading manga series.

Bleach 638 left quite a cliffhanger with the battle between Mayuri and Pernida. Neither side has gained a clear advantage as yet.

What would happen in the next chapter? Will Mayuri become careless and meet a terrible fate-or death as predicted?

Other predictions have come forth with a fateful twist. In Reddit, user "Nope Le Vaar" had posted:

"Mayuri's ability to overcome Pernida's nerve attack completely is shown as a recap, with a counter attack by Mayuri. As the fight progresses, Mayuri manages to wound Pernida once more, this time using one of his drugs. In a fit of rage, Pernida activates Vollstandig, and Mayuri matches with bankai."

Analyzing Pernida, Mayuri may have deduced that the nerve attack was his only method. Mayuri has seen the worst of what Pernida can inflict, and he has already devised a counter measure.

"What follows in his prediction would be more interesting: The modified Kinjiki Ashisogi Jizo is enough to remove Pernida from the fight, either by killing it completely or absorbing/consuming it to completely preserve the hand. Mayuri, only expecting to preserve a single finger of the left hand, is overzealous and begins raving about his unstoppable power."

In line with the captain's pompous nature, Mayuri "compares himself to the likes of a god we get a full body shot of Mayuri, stopped mid-sentence by an arrow ripping through his midsection. The next page is a close-up of Uryu, positioning his glasses. 'Your madness ends now, Mayuri Kurotsuchi."

Sounds like an exciting cliffhanger but some opinions are doubtful on whether this scenario may pan out.

"This is actually a lot for a single chapter, plus it just seems rushed...this fight barely started really. I know Mayuri does rap things up quick but against the SK left arm? Not that fast," says user "nakklaavar."

Analyzing Kubo's pace, he might have a point. Two major battles for the polarizing character of the series may be too much for three chapters.

Bleach Chapter 639 is scheduled for release on Aug. 20, after Weekly Shonen Jump took a week off.
