Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson

Adrian Peterson hit the lowest point of his career last season when he was implicated in a child abuse scandal. AP's reported plot to bolt out of Minnesota and join his hometown team, the Dallas Cowboys, didn't help at all as much as repairing his worn-out image to the public.

But after a whirlwind of events that wound up with Peterson being reinstated again and renewing his allegiants to the Vikings nation, the former NFL MVP is on the verge of dispelling the negativity of last season and proving to everybody that he's still the best running back in the league. The day of reckoning has finally arrived.

Minnesota Vikings vs. San Francisco 49ers:

The last match of week one of the 2015-16 NFL Season will be more than AP's return to the turf. The San Francisco 49ers, who rose to contention under head coach Jim Harbaugh, will be put under the microscope as well with their new roster make-up, not to mention their new coach Jim Tomsulo.

Then there's Colin Kaeperneck whose true value, whether he's a product of Harbaugh's system or not, will be measured starting on week one. And finally, the hype surrounding quarterback of the future Teddy Bridgewater who showed poise and accuracy in his passes in his first season. Will he carry the momentum and breakthrough this season?

Quotes to Ponder:

'"There's not too many guys that come into the league that have that talent, especially at the quarterback position," he added. "He's just so poised. He has a great arm. He's mature. And he's a competitor," Peterson on Bridgewater's potential.
