Tom Hiddleston will star in Jordan Vogt-Roberts’ upcoming action adventure film “Kong: Skull Island.”

"Thor" actor Tom Hiddleston has revealed the character he is set to play in Jordan Vogt-Roberts' upcoming action adventure film "Kong: Skull Island."

In his interview with Collider at the Toronto International Film Festival to promote Marc Abraham's musical drama "I Saw the Light," Hiddleston said that his character would be someone "very heroic." The actor added that his character will be an adventurer. Hiddleston did not mention the name of his character, so it is assumed that fans could speculate on the nature of his character.

Vogt-Roberts' "Kong: Skull Island" could present a new take on its character, such as Hiddleston's, as per Cinema Blend. It is assumed that the film could showcase a blend of old and new characters, such as the characters in Peter Jackson's "King Kong" in 2005. Jackson's iteration of King Kong's story saw Jack Black play a movie director who was in search of an exotic location for his new movie and discovered a monstrous creature.

"Kong: Skull Island" stands as a prequel to the story of King Kong. Set in the 1970 Detroit, the film features the mysterious titular island, which is believed to be populated by different kinds of monsters and creatures. Aside from Hiddleston, "Kong: Skull Island" also stars Brie Larson, Corey Hawkins, John Reilly, Samuel Jackson, and Tom Wilkinson, among others.

"The Kings of Summer" director Vogt-Roberts is set to helm the film while Max Borenstein and John Gatins are on board to pen the screenplay. Alex Garcia, Eric McLeod, Jon Jashni, Mary Parent, and Thomas Tull will co-produce the forthcoming film. At the moment, exact details on the plot, additional characters, and cast are yet to be revealed.

Vogt-Roberts' "Kong: Skull Island" is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on Mar. 10, 2017 while Abraham's "I Saw the Light" hit theaters on Nov. 27.
