Siri is the default digital personal assistant embedded on the iOS operating system. The iOS 9 version of Siri can respond to questions either by a speaking voice or the assistant can also respond only with texts displayed on the screen. The second option can be activated when users switch off their phone's ringer.

According to Wired, in order to enable this feature, users can go to the General tab under Settings and scroll down to Siri. On the Siri sub-menu, select the Voice Feedback option and change it from the default Always setting to the Control with Ring Switch. When this feature is enabled, Siri will still beep every time it is activated but will not speak its responses, instead the digital assistant will simple display its response via a text displayed on the device's screen.

Another new Siri feature is the ability to set a specific accent for the digital assistant. Three accents are available; American, British and Australian. The iOS 9 update also allow users to swap between a Male and Female voice for Siri. In previous iOS versions, Siri is only available in female voice.
