Jesse Eisenberg will play Lex Luthor in Zack Snyder’s upcoming DC Comics film “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.”

Jesse Eisenberg is thrilled to play the role of Lex Luthor in Zack Snyder's upcoming film "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice."

In a recent interview, the actor spoke about his character and said that is the most valuable role. He told The Observer, "In a lot of ways Luthor is more of a stretch than any character you would do in an independent movie, which is normally the place you stretch. So in that way it was not at all compromised. If anything it was the best, most advantageous role I've ever been given."

The actor went on to praise the screenplay writer of the film Chris Terrio. He said that reality and superhero elements have been fused in a very smart way. Reportedly Terrio has tied in "superhero elements with "sophisticated philosophical themes."

"They're addressing geopolitics in this movie and not in a way that's pretentious or esoteric," he added.

Eisenberg's character Luthor is the main adversary of Superman.  He will reportedly sport two looks in the film. He will be shown in a bald as well as long hair look. His bald look was first released by Entertainment Weekly.

In the comics, Luthor is a business magnate and a gifted scientist. He does not have superpowers but he occasionally wears warsuit to fight Superman. He sees Superman as a threat to humanity and intends to kill him.

Meanwhile, it is not known how Eisenberg's character will factor in the film. "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" also stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams,Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter, and Gal Gadot. The film opens Mar. 25, 2016.
