News on the cancellation or renewal of "Extant" season 3 has yet to be confirmed, although multiple reports suggest that there is a high probability that CBS will give the show another chance.

According to Bustle, the season 2 finale left several unanswered questions which could only indicate that the Halle Berry series is still up for renewal. Ending a season on a cliff hanger indicate that the producers and writers have faith that they will have more time to tell the story.

Although the second season only drew in 4.3 million viewers and had a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic, many fans could not help but hold out hope for its renewal. The outlet also pointed out that the second season was much better compared to the first one, picking up "speed, heart and entertainment."

In a separate post, the outlet assured fans that they should not give up on "Extant" having a third season just yet. It pointed out that although ratings are important, it is not the only factor that networks consider in a show. Having Hollywood A-list celebrities headlining the series, such as Berry, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Grace Summer, is definitely one of its saving grace.

The publication also noted that season 2 was picked up on Oct. 9 of last year. This could mean that fans may still be able to hear good news by next month. It was speculated that the network could also just be delaying announcement to increase the hype for the show and we were all worried about nothing.
