Genndy Tartakovsky animated comedy film "Hotel Transylvania" is set to have a good opening on Friday.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tartakovsky's animated film was keeping count at the Friday box office, assuming a domestic gross of about $40 million on its opening weekend. The publication said that people from Sony Pictures were being more careful as they predict an opening of about $35 million coming from 3,754 theaters.

Meanwhile, Nancy Meyers' "The Intern," is assumed to open with $17 million to $22 million in the box office. Distributed by Warner Bros., Meyers' film stars Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway and it has older women as its target audience.

Tartakovsky's "Hotel Transylvania 2" received an A-CinemaScore, just like its predecessor "Hotel Transylvania," as per Deadline. Despite bad reviews, "Hotel Transylvania 2" marks the second highest opening of Sandler's career following "The Longest Yard," which opened with $47.6 million in 2005.

"Hotel Transylvania 2" serves as the sequel to Tartakovsky's "Hotel Transyvlvania." It follows Dracula and his friends as they try to bring out the monster in his half-vampire half-human grandson to keep his daughter Mavis from leaving the titular hotel.

With Tartakovsky in the director's seat, "Pixels" actor Adam Sandler and "Louie" writer Robert Smigel are on board to pen the film script. Meanwhile, Allen Covert, Skyle Lyons, Michelle Murdocca, and ben Waisbren are set to co-produce the film.

"Hotel Transylvania 2" features the voices of Jonny Solomon, Mel Brooks, Nick Offerman, Molly Shannon, Fran Drescher, Keegan-Michael Key, David Spade, Steve Buscemi, Kevin James, Andy Samberg, Selena Gomez, and Sandler.

Directed by Tartakovsky, "Hotel Transylvania 2" is now showing in theaters.
