'Mr. Robot' Season 2 Release Date Confirmed For June/July 2016; Premiere Explains Elliot's Mental Illnes

"Mr. Robot" season 2 release date is expected to be on June or July 2016, if the latest rumors are to be believed. The cast will reportedly start shooting by April next year if it will follow the schedule of season 1.

The renewal of the USA Network series did not come as a surprise given that the show gained mostly positive response from TV critics. It also was able to gain quite a following, averaging a total of 2.8 million viewers per episode.

In an interview with the Huffington Post, creator Sam Esmail revealed that the show was intended to be a feature film originally. He shared that he was surprised with all the attention that the show had been receiving. He explained that what they were doing was actually nothing out of the ordinary.

Esmail added that a much more exciting story will only begin to unfold come season 2. He revealed that the most of the story will revolve around Elliot (Rami Malek) and Mr. Robot (Christian Slater). He shared that the real story behind Elliot's illness will also be revealed in the coming episodes.

Meanwhile, speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Malek shared that he was very proud and humbled by all the praises they have been receiving for the show. He said that one of the reasons why the show was so popular is because of how apt it was given the advancement of technology today. He added that the both the story and characters are extremely relatable.

Malek, however, refused to reveal any spoilers for "Mr. Robot" season 2, saying that anything his character gets his hand to ends up causing "massive damages to society."
