LG G2, LG G3, LG G4 may not get the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Update

If reports are anything to go by, it appears that the electronics maker LG is skipping Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update and waiting for Android Marshmallow. Given below is the Android Marshmallow and Android 5.1.1 Lollipop release news for LG G2, LG G3 and LG G4.

The tech giant Google has unveiled two new Nexus smartphones: the 5.2-inch Nexus 5X and 5.7-inch Nexus 6P, according to Computerworld. The two handsets will run the latest operating system, Android Marshmallow.

The search giant has already rolled out the third and final version of the developer's edition of Android Marshmallow. The update will take some time to reach customers.

Also, LG will need to integrate the new Android into their handsets. Then, local wireless service providers require to run the soak tests before rolling out the new Android Marshmallow update on a public scale.

LG has been slow in pushing out updates. The LG G3 and LG G4 are still on Android 5.1 Lollipop. LG G2 is still on Android 5.0 Lollipop. These devices never got the latest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update.

Now that Android Marshmallow is rolling out next week, prospects for the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update are thin.

Several reports suggest that the LG G3 and LG G4 will definitely get firmware updates for some time. It is still not known whether the company is planning to update the LG G2 to Android Marshmallow or Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. However, some reports suggest that the company will keep supporting the LG G2 for a while longer.

GSMArena had earlier reported that the LG will roll out the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update to LG G2 in the coming months. The information reportedly came from an LG employee.
