Moto G 2014 will receive both Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and Android M Marshmallow operating systems, according to reports.
Motorola will reportedly roll out the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop to the second and third generation of Moto G handsets by Sept. 29. This means that the smartphones will run with the last version of Lollipop before the official roll out of Android M Marshmallow.
Google's new operating system will reportedly have its debut in October alongside Google flagship smartphone - Nexus 5 2015.
While there is official confirmation from Motorola yet as to when it will, speculations arise claiming that Moto G 2015 may be the first in line among Moto G handsets to get the Android followed closely by its previous models. It is predicted that if Moto G 2015 gets the Android M OS update, the Moto G 2014 will receive the update in January 2016, while the Moto G will get it around February 2016.
According to International Business Times, Motorola will release the new Android M starting with Moto X Style (aka Pure Edition in US), Moto X Play, Moto X (2014), Droid Turbo (aka Moto Turbo in India), Moto G (2nd and 3rd Gen) by the end of December 2015 or early 2016.
Motorola, being a former mobile division of Google, has a good reputation for being one of the early adopters of the latest update as soon as it gets the Android OS source code. The reason why some handsets experience delay is the fact that carriers have to roll out the OS upgrade to the handsets.
