Samsung Galaxy S3 Receives Android 5.1.1 Lollipop; Technical Issues No More With The Update

The Samsung Galaxy S III is a multi-touch, slate-format smartphone designed, developed, and marketed by Samsung Electronics that runs the Android operating system.

Samsung Galaxy S3 will soon get the update for Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS. S3 units that are still unlocked under a mobile carrier and on Android KitKat will soon have the Lollipop. 

Samsung, the South Korean phone giant is taking every possible way, no matter how small, to update its phone lineup to the most current Android version. While other brands have pushed the latest version of their phones, it is only now that Samsung is doing it, International Business Times reported.

Samsung Galaxy S3 under major U.S. carriers are still using Android 4.0 KitKat like Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, US Cellular and AT&T. Many believe that the phone will encounter no technical issue once it gets its update.  Older and lower models have been updated and everything went smoothly.

Samsung Galaxy S3 will be skipping the other version of Android 5 and will jump directly to Android 5.1.1.  Some phone had similar version jumps and did not have any problems as well. This is also in preparation for the upcoming Android 6.0 Marshmallow, Android Pit reported.

Samsung mid-range model lineup has been upgraded long before, which made several consumers to speak up through community forums about the long delay in an update. The mid-range models include Galaxy Tab 4 8.0, Galaxy Tab 10.1, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6, Galaxy Grand Prime, Galaxy Core Prime, Galaxy Mega 2, Galaxy J1, Galaxy Note 3, and Galaxy Note 4.

Samsung Galaxy S3 users who are jumping from KitKat to Lollipop will experience great improvements with the current Android version. This includes better animations, notification options, device sharing, syncing and Material Design. It is also worth noting that several security updates were added since Android 4.2.2.
