Derrick Rose Suffers Another Injury During Practice and Will Undergo Immediate Surgery

Injuries just keep coming to Chicago Bulls All-Star point guard Derrick Rose as he was hit by an elbow on the face during training camp practice.

According the Bulls' official statement released through the NBA, Rose was taken to Rush University Medical Center by the team's medical staff immediately after the contact was made.

After testing and consultation, medical specialists said that the former MVP suffered a left orbital fracture and would need a surgical procedure tomorrow.

The timetable for Rose's return is still undetermined. But there's still a silver lining for his fans as this injury doesn't involve any blow to his lower extremities.

This means that he could probably just be wearing a facial mask when the season starts. The NBA star also has more than enough time to recover.

According to CBS Sports, this kind of injury will typically require the point guard to wear the mask for four to six weeks.

However, Rose's absence will not be good for the team since they have a new coach in Fred Hoiberg. The Bulls needs continuity with every player present as they understand the new system that the rookie coach will put in place.

Rose's injury is another blow to his already tarnished image of being an injury-prone player. While we have seen sparks of brilliance from him during the playoffs, the old Rose hasn't come back yet.

Good thing, Hoiberg is the kind of coach who gives priority to his players' conditioning. Jimmy Butler said that their new coach made it clear that their health is of foremost importance.

No matter how unfortunate this may seem, it's still not as bad compared to Rose's other injuries. He might probably miss a few games early in the season but he should be back when the Bulls needs him most.
