iPhone 7 Rumors: Release Date, Waterproof Feature, New Patent For Design

iPhone 7 is reportedly to have curved display similar to the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge.

Apple has recently launched iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S Plus, but rumors about iPhone 7 are making rounds online indicating that it could be a waterproof device.

The Cupertino-based tech giant has filed a patent for curved/flexible displays in 2013. Now, the new patented features are now expected to be part of the upcoming Apple iPhone 7, earmarked for 2016. It is reportedly to have curved display similar to the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and glass wraparound design also known as foldable design will be added, according to International Business Times.

Rumors also said that iPhone 7 may feature higher screen resolution but it will retain the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch models. It may also have sapphire display on both iPhones via the Touch ID and camera lens coverings. KGI Securities analyst Ming Chi Kuo suggests that Apple will stick with in-cell panels, allowing the company to make the device even thinner

iPhone 7 is also rumored to be waterproof. Online reports claimed that Apple is currently testing waterproof iPhone 7 prototypes in China. It will have strengthened and waterproof frame, ditching the aluminum casing for an all new material, Mac Rumors reported. The new iPhone 7 body can withstand both dust and water.

Reports have also indicated that iPhone may have A10 chip, in line with Apple's chip naming convention. Apple will be focusing on multithread processing and will develop the A10 as a hexa-core (6-core) CPU. It will be paired with 2GB LPDDR4 RAM, and has three internal storage options: 32GB, 64GB and 128GB. It is likely that it will sport 12-MP rear camera with built-in optical image stabilization.

Apple would feature Force Touch Display, enhancing user experience and supports the handwritten signatures. It allows the screen to detect how hard and long a touch is applied, enabling greater input methods. Gesture Control Support is based on gesture technology that allows gestures to login into the iPhone and, also it will work with Touch ID fingerprint scanner.

Finally, Apple may add another casing color, which is Rose Gold that will match the rose gold Apple Watch Edition. It is expected that iPhone 7 will be launched on September 2016.
