Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Update Coming Soon for Samsung Galaxy Note Edge?

It is expected that the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update is coming soon for Samsung Galaxy Note Edge, since the update is rolling out for the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 users in Canada. The update is expected to be sent over the air. 

However, if the users cannot wait for their turn, they can also download the update as a custom RAM and flash it on the device. It is expected to be available for Verizon, Sprint, AT&T, and US Cellular network carriers soon enough.

Currently, the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge users on the AT&T network are running on Android 5.0.1 Lollipop, according to AT&T.

The Android 5.1.1 Lollipop firmware is expected to be 641.23 MB in size. Hence, the device must be equipped with enough space to install the update.

The update aims at rectifying the issue of the Stagefright virus. This malware is sent to the users through a video MMS, and can be easily misused to extract valuable information of the users. The accuracy of the superior auto mode in the device will be enhanced after the update.

The material design of the user experience will also get an enhancement. The Bluetooth and Wi-Fi options will be available in the drop down shortcut menu after the update. New icons will also be added in the menu options, according to BGR. Calendar and Contact apps will be integrated with the LinkedIn application, making it easy for the users to maintain their job profiles.

In order to manually check for updates, go to Settings>About phone>System update>Check for updates.

The update might take 15 to 20 minutes to complete the full process of installation. The device will be automatically rebooted after the file finishes downloading. Connect to a stable Wi-Fi connection to avoid excessive data charges.
