Nina Dobrev is reportedly desperate to shed any connection to "The Vampire Diaries." Ian Somerhalder's ex-girlfriend recently revealed a darker, more mature side of her in an attempt to remove any traces of Elena Gilbert on her.

In an interview with Who What Wear, Dobrev shared that she is being picky with accepting roles as of late. She pointed out that she did not want to get typecast under a specific role, which is why she is taking her time. She explained that she wanted to do something "dark and gritty" on her project.

Dobrev also added that she hoped to work with directors and actors that would challenge and scare her. Although many speculated that leaving The CW series was a bad move for her career, the actress has not looked back ever since.

Fans of "TVD" are still hoping that Dobrev will eventually change her mind and return to the series. The actress, however, firmly stated that she is done, adding that that chapter of her life is already closed. She shared that she is now ready to pursue her dream of being a movie actress.

According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, Dobrev made a good decision to leave the show and distance herself from Elena. Although her aspiration to become a movie star may not be going quite well, the publication held that she is expected to guest star in "Empire" and "True Detective" in the coming episodes.

Multiple reports even suggest that Somerhalder will follow her footsteps and pursue a different interest.
