‘Man Of Steel’ Screenwriter David S. Goyer Talks Reason Why Oliver Queen Is Not In The Big Screen

Stephen Amell is Oliver Queen in "Arrow" Season 4.

"Man of Steel" screenwriter David S. Goyer has shared his thoughts on why the Green Arrow has not reached the big screen.

Goyer penned a script entitled "Green Arrow: Escape From Super Max" back in the late 2000s, but it did not push through. In his interview with Den of Geek, Goyer said that it definitely had been like an "oddball" project at Warner Bros. during that time. The screenwriter continued to explain that the studio producers questioned the logic of crafting a film about a group of villains.

According to Goyer, the project executive had been really idealistic; however, the other studio heads preferred to focus on producing films on iconic superheroes, such as Batman and Superman that they did not want to make films on other characters.

"Green Arrow: Escape From Super Max" had been authored prior to Marvel's take-off and the rise of DC's Cinematic Universe, according to Cinema Blend. If the project had been actualized, fans would have witnessed Oliver Queen in a theatrical adaptation opposite the plotted archenemy Marcus cross. The film would have also showcased a bunch of villains, such as The Riddler, Lex Luthor, and The Joker.

Fans are set to see Batman, Superman, and Lex Luthor in Zack Snyder's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," which stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller, Ray Fisher, Jesse Eisenberg, and Amy Adams, among others.

On the other hand, The Joker will be played by Jared Leto in David Ayer's "Suicide Squad," which also stars Viola Davis, Common, Joel Kinnaman, Scott Eastwood, Jay Hernandez, Adawale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Adam Beach, Cara Delevingne, Karen Fukuhara, Jai Courtney, Will Smith, and Margot Robbie, among others.

Meanwhile, Stephen Amell dons the suit of the Green Arrow in "Arrow" Season 4, along with David Ramsey, Neal McDonough, Katie Cassidy, Emily Bett Rickards, Willia Holland, and John Barrowman, among others.

Snyder's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" is set to be aired in two separate teasers on Oct. 26 while the film is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on Mar. 25, 2016. Meanwhile, Ayer's "Suicide Squad" is set to hit theaters on Aug. 5, 2016. Meanwhile, Wendey Stanzler's Season 4 Episode 3 "Restoration" will air on Oct. 21.
