Game director Hajime Tabata finally explained the rationale behind the "Final Fantasy XV" monochromatic theme running in Noctis and his gang's outfits in the latest conversations with fans.
"Final Fantasy XV" developer has been responding to fan discussions, the most recent of which was fans wondering why Noctis and his friends are all in black. Tabata revealed that this had already been ongoing in "Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children," Siliconera reported.
Specifically, the black clothing of the main characters signified the battle gear worn in the Kingdom of Lucis. Black is seen as a color designated to those who are from the royal family and those affiliated to it.
In fact, even with the four characters having the same black-colored outfits, there are differences among them depending on their stations. Tabata also revealed that the clothes serve more than just being outfits as they will have an effect in battle that will be unveiled later on.
For now, the team behind "Final Fantasy XV" revealed a new fall screenshot featuring Gladiolus, Dual Shockers reported. This screenshot shows him playing some hoops sans his black top, but showing off his numerous tattoos. According to the source, this is a nod to how Japan celebrates sports in the fall with several events, including National Sports Festival and Health and Sports Day.
The screenshot was a follow-up to a previous Gladiolus fall screenshot where he was indulging in a lot of food, an activity also highly practiced in the fall in Japan.
"Final Fantasy XV' will be launched on the PS4 and Xbox One. It is dated to release sometime in 2016, with the developer yet to specify a release date.
