Nintendo still has not yet released the results of the Fighter Ballot. However, rumors of which character could be added to the game continue to arise. The latest rumor points to a recently updated title in the Nintendo franchise, the shooter Splatoon.
Specifically, the Inklings will reportedly be the newest additions to "Super Smash Bros." It appears that the popularity of the title is fitting for the "Super Smash Bros." The fact that the Inklings were not part of the Fighter Ballot also makes them a fitting choice, Gamnesia reported.
This is not the only time that a Splatoon character was rumored for "Super Smash Bros." As early as May, there has been speculation that "Splatoon" will be a DLC for the Nintendo game. Previously, the franchise has been linked to "Super Smash Bros." when Nintendo of America took to Twitter to announce that preorders of the game will give players a code for "Splatoon" DLC costumes in "Super Smash Bros."
"Players who pre-order or purchase 'Splatoon' at Gamestop will receive a code for 'Splatoon' DLC costumes in "SmashBros' for Wii U!" Nintendo of America tweeted in May. Back then, fan discussions have pointed to the de-confirmation of the Inklings for "Super Smash Bros."
However, some fans also pointed out that other characters like Link and Meta Knight have costumes, but are also separate characters in the game. This further hints at the possibility of Inklings being part of "Super Smash Bros."
Nintendo has only hinted that the DLC character will not be a newcomer. The character will also be a big deal for players of "Super Smash Bros."
