Chinese Actor Ludi Lin Joins ‘Power Rangers’ Movie Cast as Black Ranger

Ludi Lin is the Black Ranger in Dean Israelite's "Power Rangers."

In an announcement made through the Instagram account of the Lionsgate film "Power Rangers," emerging Chinese actor Ludi Lin is confirmed to be playing the role of Black Ranger.

Li, who was born in China but grew up in Australia and Canada, has recently returned to Asia to pursue his acting career.

Though he is considered new in the industry, many entertainment enthusiasts and experts see potential in him. A number of them have also predicted that Ludi is posed to be a breakout star.

Earlier this 2015, he landed a role in the record-breaking animation "Monster Hunt," which is China's highest grossing title ever. He also had a cameo in the hit comedy flick "Lost in Hong Kong."

Following his movie stints, Ludi is expected to entice fans in the second season of the Netflix period series, "Marco Polo."

Ludi is currently managed by Echelon Talent's Joel Morrish and Andrew Oqi.

The reboot of the hugely popular 1990s television series is slated to hit the theaters in Jan. 2017. The members of the cast have also been gradually revealed.

Previously, "The Martian"'s Naomi Scott and Australian star Dacre Montgomery are set to play the Pink and Red Rangers, respectively.

"Power Rangers" follows the journey of a group of five high schoolers who received superpowers from an alien force, and use them to save the world.

The film's script is written by the screenwriting team behind "X-Men: First Class," Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz.

The movie adaptation is based on the '90s series, "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers," which was based on a Japanese kids material, "Super Sentai."
