David Ayer's forthcoming DC Comics film "Suicide Squad" will cover an element of romance, as it is set to feature a love triangle.
Will Smith is set to play Deadshot in Ayer's upcoming film and he teased that the romance would involve his character, Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn, and Jared Leto's The Joker. In his interview with Comic Book Movie, Smith said that Quinn was the biggest troublemaker; however, Deadshot was actually eyeballing her a little bit.
Ayer told Comic Book Movie that the film will see Quinn break free from The Joker and transform into a fully realized and autonomous person, which the director called "a metaphor for everyone's journey." In May, photos of Smith and Robbie in the Toronto set of the film were released. The images showed the actors in character and teased a romantic storyline between their characters.
With Ayer's reveal that Quinn was heading the path of parting away from The Joker, Deadshot and Quinn's photos in May indicate that the two could brew romance for the latter to detach herself from Gotham's Clown Prince. However, the two could face The Joker as they strive for Quinn's independence, as per Cinema Blend.
Along with Smith, Robbie, and Leto, "Suicide Squad" also stars Viola Davis, Joel Kinnaman, Common, Scott Eastwood, Jay Hernandez, Adawale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Adam Beach, Karen Fukuhara, Cara Delevingne, and Jai Courtney, among others.
Ayer's "Suicide Squad" is set premiere in theaters on Aug. 5, 2016. Watch the official "Suicide Squad" Comic-Con trailer here:
