Director David Ayer has released two images of his cast from his upcoming DC Comics film "Suicide Squad."
Ayer tweeted the cover photos of Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn and Will Smith's Deadshot on his official Twitter account. These serve as follow-up to his previous photo tweets featuring Cara Delevingne as Enchantress and Jared Leto as Joker.
Robbie is wearing her iconic Quinn costume in the cover photo, with her left hand holding a gun and her right hand holding a bat. The blue and pink background hues also match her make-up and hairstyle. Meanwhile, Smith's Deadshot is ready for combat in the cover photo in Ayer's tweet. The character sports his iconic red and black battle suit and his high-caliber gun, which is enough to take down his foes.
Over all, Quinn's cover photo got almost 4,000 favorites and more than 3,700 re-tweets while Deadshot's cover photo got more than 3,000 favorites and more than 2,600 re-tweets.
Robbie's cover photo as Quinn maintained the character's appearance that was praised by the Quinn's co-creator Pail Dini and Bruce Timm. They said they loved Robbie's Quinn in Ayer's "Suicide Squad." Dini told Shanlian on Batman that Ayer's take on Quinn was rougher and more street-looking while Timm said that Robbie's Quinn was pretty cute after he saw the actress in character.
Previous reports also said that Quinn is one of the core characters in Ayer's "Suicide Squad," as the film was assumed to reveal her origin. Also, Quinn is set to have a love triangle with Deadshot and Joker in the film. Ayer told Comic Book Movie that the film will see Quinn break free from The Joker and transform into a fully realized and autonomous person, which the director called "a metaphor for everyone's journey."
Along with Robbie, Smith, Delevingne, and Leto, "Suicide Squad" also stars Viola Davis, Joel Kinnaman, Common, Scott Eastwood, Jay Hernandez, Adawale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Adam Beach, Karen Fukuhara, and Jai Courtney, among others.
Ayer's "Suicide Squad" is set to premiere in theaters on Aug. 5, 2016. Watch the official "Suicide Squad" Comic-Con trailer here:
