Tom Cruise is Ethan Hunt in Christopher McQuarrie's "Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation."

"Mission: Impossible" actor Tom Cruise is set to do one more film before "Mission: Impossible 6," Doug Liman's sci-fi action "Luna Park."

According to Variety, Liman's "Luna Park" is the next in line to star Cruise, prior to reprising his role as Ethan Hunt in the sixth "Mission: Impossible" film. "Wonder Woman" writer Jason Fuchs is set to pen the latest draft of the sci-fi action film for Paramount and Skydance. Fuchs was also onboard to author the screenplay for Joe Wright's "Pan" and he is also on board to pen the script of Joe Lujan's horror thriller "Rust."

As for Cruise, Edaward Zwick's action crime "Jack Reacher: Never Go Back" has begun filming. Aside from "Mission: Impossible 6" and "Luna Park," Cruise is also set to appear in the action film "Top Gun 2," and Liman's "Mena."

Meanwhile, "Luna Park" centers on a group of renegade employees who travelled to the moon and rob an energy source. Sources also told Variety that if Fuchs' draft went well, the two studios would have tried to put the film ahead "Mission: Impossible 6," which was projected to begin filming next year. The film is set to blend the elements of heist and sci-fi that Cruise and Liman work together on the film, as per Cinema Blend.

"Mission: Impossible 6" and "Luna Park" are in their early phase of development at this point, so exact details on the film's plot, characters, cast, and release date are yet to be revealed. "Jack Reacher: Never Go Back" is slated to premiere in theaters on Oct. 21, 2016 while Liman's "Mena" hits theaters on Jan. 6, 2017.
