"Castle" season 8 is in danger of being cancelled by ABC network.
According to Cartermatt, the show hasn't been receiving good ratings for the past five weeks.
To make things worse, fans of the once hit ABC series has been slamming co-showrunners Terence Paul Winter and Alexi Hawley nonstop for splitting Rick Castle and Kate Beckett up.
According to E! News, another reason why the series needs to be cancelled is because it should have ended even before season 8 aired.
"Let's be real - the show should've ended a while ago, and definitely before they broke up Beckett and Castle. Let's put this one out of its misery, shall we?" the publication noted.
Meanwhile, fans of the show have been very vocal on their desire to have the series axed after season 8.
One fan wrote, "Matt, I would like to tell people to watch, but honestly I can't. The writers aren't making it easy with this contrived and forced breakup. Plus we have 3 weeks before a new episode with fans hoping they are back together by the extended fall hiatus.
Another fan @Jim_ Satterfield wrote, "I don't hate Stana Katic. I hate what the writers have done to the characters of Kate Beckett and Rick Castle.
"Castle showrunners only have to do one thing to bring ratings back - put Fillion and Katic in the same breathing space acting Castle and Beckett as they try to outsmart each other on their way to solving a crime for at least half of the 42 minutes of each episode," another fan wrote.
