EXO’s ‘Lightsaber’ To Help ‘Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens’ Popularity In Asia

Current members and former members of the Chinese-South Korean boy band EXO has again making some noise in the Entertainment industry.

EXO collaborated with Disney and provided a track to the upcoming "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens" to help its popularity in Asia like South Korea and China.

After the new Star Wars movie teased that it works with one of Kpop's hottest acts, the South Korean most popular boyband delivered a new song aptly titled "Lightsaber" in a cinematic music video, according to Billboard.

The new music video features the remaining nine EXO members in a Star Wars-themed world sporting lightsabers. The collaboration shows EXO's extreme popularity that will help the film. EXO has a big female fanbase, especially in South Korea, China and Japan, and the song may persuade these fans to check out the film.

Moreover, EXO will encourage younger generations to watch the movie that has been running for years since its first film that was released in 1977.

According to reports, this is just the beginning of a long partnership of Disney with EXO's label SM Entertainment. It is rumored that other SM artists like Super Junior, Girls' Generation, f(x), SHINee, and Red Velvet will also collaborate with future Disney films.

EXO's "Lightsaber" is available on Apple Music now. Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens will be released in Korean theaters on Dec. 17 while it hits America on the 18th.

Meanwhile, EXO is vying for the Best Male Group award at Mnet Asian Music Awards against another popular South Korean boyband BigBang. The two artists are neck-to-neck in the polls. The fans are voting for their favorites that will affect the result.
